How many, is too many?

"Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized. Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats." -"Pet Statistics," aspca.org

Slow Down Overpopulation

"It’s impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States. Estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million. Only 10% of the animals received by shelters have been spayed or neutered. Overpopulation, due to owners letting their pets accidentally or intentionally reproduce, sees millions of these “excess” animals killed annually." -"11 Fact About Animal Homelessness." Who I am

Hi! My name is Lily Schoenewolff and I am a seinor at Dreyfoos School of the Arts. I decided to create this site after noticing the severe need for volunteers and help at my local animal shelter, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, especially during the COVID-19 virus. I have been fostering kittens at this shelter for a year. During this time, I have painted these cats to showcase the qualities of a pet that make them unique and loved.
