To support my local animal shelter, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League (Website), I am holding a raffle that will offer one 18x24 inch pet portrait on cedar wood to the winner. Raffle ends on October 31, 2020 at 11:59pm. A video will be posted of me pulling a name out of a jar. The winner's name will appear on this website and will be contacted on November 1, 2020. Winner must provide a photo of a pet to be painted. A sample painting of this size is pictured below.
"Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized. Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats." -"Pet Statistics," aspca.org
"It’s impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States. Estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million. Only 10% of the animals received by shelters have been spayed or neutered. Overpopulation, due to owners letting their pets accidentally or intentionally reproduce, sees millions of these “excess” animals killed annually." -"11 Fact About Animal Homelessness." Hi! My name is Lily Schoenewolff and I am a seinor at Dreyfoos School of the Arts. I decided to create this site after noticing the severe need for volunteers and help at my local animal shelter, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, especially during the COVID-19 virus. I have been fostering kittens at this shelter for a year. During this time, I have painted these cats to showcase the qualities of a pet that make them unique and loved.
